Facts

Tulips were brought to Holland hundreds of years ago from the hillsides of Turkey and Greece. The ancestry of the Tulipa genus stretches even further, to mountain ranges on the border of Russia and China. These wild tulip species have been important in the development of popular garden varieties:

From the island of Crete, Tulipa bakeri, known as “Lilac Wonder.”

From Central Asia, Tulipa tarda, a native tulip used in creating modern hybrids.
